I am sitting at the airport in Ho Chi Minh awaiting my transfer to Da Nang. I am tired and have ALREADY been bitten by a mosquito. Ugh.
The flight over was incredible in its 13-hours of awfulness (Vietnam Airlines). The flight attendants looked miserable, the inflight “entertainment” was miserable, the food looked miserable, the seating was miserable, I have been informed that the wine was miserable … um … and after watching a grainy copy of Big Hero 6, I was miserable. Such a lovely movie but so sad … I think. Word of the Day? MISERABLE!
The highlight so far is that 1 British pound buys you 32,000 Dong … which means for a few days I am a millionaire (just)! WHOOHOO!
I did learn a couple of words on the flight – “Bo” means father, “kheong” means no and “X a” means please flush (?).
So, I am 6 hours ahead of home … but this morning it feels like at least 7.
It’s quite humid outside and I am looking forward to being close to the coast where hopefully the air will be fresher and less gooey.
We have an action-packed week in Da Nang and Hoi An planned. I do love coming to the Far East …
Thankfully I did not suffer from any stupidity on “April Fool’s Day” … unless that was what the flight was about.
From starting at such a low point, everything else on this trip is going to be FABULOUS!
Excitement reigns, in the Sharma brain …
